"In the meantime my parents had sold their house to the MacLean brothers for the sum of $475. They then bought the holdings of Enoch Tobin -- consisting of 30 acres of cultivated land and woodland combined; house, barn, henhouse and backhouse -- for $1300."

"The dwelling house my father bought was one and one-half storeys in height, with five rooms on the ground floor. There was a well-designed fireplace with all the equipment such as a "crane", where a number of heavy pots were hung. These pots were once used for cooking and for heating water. When not in use, the crane could be swung to one side while the fire was kept burning to provide heat. To pick up small pieces of wood or live coals, tongs were used. This was all standard equipment, made by the local blacksmith. There was also a bake-oven constructed and made out of brick. This was used for baking bread, which was primarily barley bread."

THE MARINER'S VERSION of the 23RD PSALM The Lord is my Pilot, I shall not drift, He lighteth me across the dark waters, He steereth me in the deep channels, He keepeth my log, He guideth me by the star of His Holiness For His name's sake; Yea, though I sail amid the thunders and tempests of life, I will fear no danger, For Thou art with me, Thou love and Thy care, they shelter me; Thou preparest a Harbour before me, In the Homeland of Eternity, Thou anointest the waves with oil, My ship rideth calmly; Surely sunlight and starlight shall favour me In the voyage I take, And I shall rest In the Port of my Lord forever.
